What is Body Concealer?

by Jamie

The purpose of body concealer is to cover up various skin imperfections and blemishes. Common examples are chronic skin conditions, like vitiligo and rosacea, as well as other less severe issues like veins, age spots, birthmarks, and moles. Concealer pencils are the preferred choice for minor skin discolorations.

In cases where a significantly large area of skin needs some concealing, cream or liquid concealers are the best options. For individuals suffering from chronic skin conditions or allergies where the skin is extra sensitive, mineral makeup would be the best choice as a natural concealer.

Uses

There are various reasons why one might wish to use body concealer. Some may wish to mask minor imperfections like blemishes and birthmarks, and others have large skin discolorations or tattoos they wish to cover up.

Whatever the case may be, there are many concealers on the market designed for all of these issues. Body concealers generally come in three different variations, including liquids and creams, pencils, and minerals.

Concealer Pencils

For minor skin blemishes, a body concealer pencil will do the trick. Pencils are effective at masking minor imperfections smaller than the size of a dime. It is typically used on moles, sparse freckles, birthmarks, age spots, scars, and discolorations surrounding the eye. The pencils are available in many shades and there will surely be a color available to match your skin tone.

Cream and Liquid Concealers

Cream and liquid concealers are used to mask larger areas that are too impractical for a pencil to cover. These concealers perform well when masking skin conditions like melasma or vitiligo, where significant sections of skin turn different shades lighter or darker than usual.

Smaller blemishes, like the ones that can be covered using a pencil, can also be covered. The biggest benefit of using this type of concealer is the diversity in which one can apply it onto their skin. For instance, they can airbrush it, spread it using their fingers, or apply using makeup sponges.

Mineral Makeup

Another great body concealer is mineral makeup, which is effective for skin problems that are both small and large in appearance. Since plenty of cosmetics on the market include harsh ingredients and chemicals that can cause irritation to the skin, mineral makeup is considered to be the ideal makeup for anyone with skin conditions like rosacea or skin allergies.

This is the case because mineral makeup is made with natural ingredients that also provide soothing and anti-inflammatory benefits. To apply, the minerals need to be brushed over the skin until the problem area is sufficiently covered.
